Past, Present, and Future Tense Song For Kids

Past, Present, and Future Tense Song For Kids

Objective:
Teach kids how to change verbs depending on the tense. Teach past, present, and future tense.

How to use:
Have the kids sing it until it gets stuck in their heads. Once they are familiar with the words, you can take the time to pause during the different slides. Explain to them what everything means. Once they know the words and the meaning, they will be able to make the connection in the future when they encounter tenses.

Lyrics:
Yesterday I was
Today I am.
- Or I am now
Tomorrow I will.

Yesterday I had
Today, I have
- Or I am having.
Tomorrow I will have.

Past tense is yesterday.
Present tense is today.
Future tense is tomorrow
Tenses are OK!

many of us who may read this post grew up speaking English, that does not mean that we may not need to improve in one aspect or another of English grammar. Websites that cater to this aspect of writing are always useful.

Having students rewrite the rules in their own words is a great idea that I had never thought of. I will definitely give it a try!
