Use VLC media player to watch or save Youtube videos.

One reason you may want to use VLC instead of Youtube to watch videos is so that you can change the playback speed (see post on how to do that here). Fortunately, this is very easy to do!

First, copy the Youtube video URL.

After you have the URL copied, open VLC and go to Media>Open Network Stream...

Paste the URL, then press "Play."

You can save the video is a similar fashion by going to Media>Convert/Save then pasting the URL and telling VLC where to save the video file.

Cannot do it. Media, Open network stream, Enter URL.... I enter URL, and get error message:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf_DAVNUDsk'.
Check the log for details.

I tried removing the 's' from https, I dropped the http altogether, it doesn't work.
